April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. in seventh grade. She began playing guitar and piano lessons, sparking her passion for music writing. When she was 12 years old, April composed her first single Different. When she was 14 April, she spent a lot of time writing lyrics and perfecting her music ability. Then, in the following months, April began to travel with her dad and to write songs either in NY or LA. April started to incorporate other relevant topics into the Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure disabilities and teen suicide. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with an ever-growing following. She collaborates with the renowned brand Ilia together, as well as being a lifestyle expert. The disability she has is part of her identity, but it's not all of the of the picture. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook her handicap. However, it doesn't emphasize the issue. The message? It's important to keep in mind that each of us has multiple faces. Our identities are varied and we are much beyond our body. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart via video "I am not convinced that my physical appearance is what defines me. It's not my intention to be an influencer on disabilities because I've got plenty to offer." It doesn't impact my daily routine. I go about the same way as I always do and have come up with my own ways to adapt. Because it's an integral part of me It's a topic worth talking about. Lockhart is a great example of how to stay moving forward with self-acceptance. Still, she admits that she went through a few phases in her body, and felt uneasy in some instances to wear clothing that displayed her arms. She now wears any outfit she wants and posts pictures on her Facebook page with pride. For her, self-love is a long process. This is true for everyone regardless of their level of insecurity. I think that having people with you who understand you and can see the depths of your soul is vital as they'll be the ones who remind you What are you worrying about?
